Bangor—Blanche Muriel (Coombs) Hodge, 72, passed away Oct. 25, 2016 at a Bangor Healthcare facility surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was born April 24, 1944, in Brewer to Bernard and Anna (Belle) Coombs. Blanche attended Brewer schools. She met and married her husband, Hershel in 1963. She worked for some time as a housekeeper at the Wedgewood Arms Hotel in Bangor. Blanche was a homebody who enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cleaning, cooking and keeping her family in line no matter how loud she had to be to do it! She was predeceased by her parents; brother Raymond Coombs; sister Betty Royal Coombs. She is survived by her husband Hershel of Bangor; daughter Karen Hodge-Ryckman of Hampden; son James Hodge of Bangor; grandchildren Matthew Leo Ryckman and significant other Katlyn Jordan of Hampden, Catherine Anna Ryckman of Corning, NY, Amy Hodge of Ellsworth, Andrew Hodge and fiancé Alyssa Alley of Ellsworth; Great-grandson Landon Hodge; brother Danny Coombs and wife Donna of Houston, TX; sister-in-law Mary Coombs of Orono; many nieces and nephews; and her cat Boozzey. The family would like to thank Joanne and Kerry Riker for the great care they provided Blanche over the years. At her request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St. 2nd Floor Framingham, MA 01701.
