Obituary of Louise Mary Park

Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brewer - Louise Mary (Cyr) Park of Brewer passed away peacefully on Christmas day at EMMC, surrounded by her family. Despite being 91, Louise was still a vibrant member of her community, attending church, playing bridge and attending an exercise class every week. A retired RN, Louise had worked at both St. Joseph's hospital where she ran the outpatient unit and orthopedic clinic, and at EMMC (known as Eastern Maine General Hospital at the time). She was active her entire life and had enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, volunteering and most importantly, spending time with her family - she did all of these things with an energy that would put most younger people to shame. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend and touched countless lives during her time here on earth. She is survived by her son, Lewis Park and his wife Wilma of Orono, her daughter, Brenda Merritt of Brewer, her granddaughter, grandson-in-law, and great grandson, Crystal (Hawley) Roy, Brandon Roy and William Roy of Veazie; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, William C. Park, her sister-in-law Beatrice Park, her parents and siblings. Louise, like her husband, was a member of what has become known as "the greatest generation" and there is no doubt among those who knew and loved her that she embodied that title. She will be dearly missed and always loved. The family would like to thank the staff at EMMC for their outstanding care and comfort during this difficult time. A private service and burial will be held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta at a future date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to EMMC-NICU, c/o Eastern Maine Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931. Arrangements are trusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. Messages and memories may be shared with her family at kileyandfoley.com.
