DEDHAM -- Rosemary Soucy, wife of Mark Alan Soucy of Dedham, Maine, and daughter of Joseph and Rose Holden of Needham, Massachusetts, passed away on July 17, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor with her family by her side. Rosemary graduated from Chandler School for Women in June 1962 and worked as a secretary at Honeywell in Needham, MA in 1963 and 1964, Southern Bell in Miami, Florida in 1965, Brunswick, Maine School Department in 1969 and 1970, and later for several years as a home health aide. For 53 years, Rosemary and Mark were married and shared an extraordinary love and friendship. Throughout their marriage they had many adventures together, including traveling to Quebec to explore the Soucy ancestry and renovating historic Maine homes together early in their marriage. Rosemary and Mark and their children lived in several towns throughout Maine and lived in Florida from 1980 to 1999. Rosemary had a vast array of interests and loved learning new things. She particularly loved history, reading, her Irish heritage, Elvis, picking vegetables from the garden, and relaxing at Hurd's Pond in Maine -- but her biggest passion was her love of family. Her extended family will remember Rosemary as not just an aunt, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, cousin, but also as a caring confidante and great friend with a keen sense of humor. For her husband and children, Rosemary was a best friend who gave endless love and support and was always eager to sacrifice anything for their happiness. She is predeceased by her sisters Joan Arntzen, Deborah Holden, and Mary Judith Holden. Rosemary is survived by her husband Mark Alan Soucy; her children, Matthew Joseph Soucy, Michelle Lisette Soucy Martel, Daniel Adam Soucy; her grandson Andrew Holden Soucy; her son- and daughter-in-law Robert Martel and Kimberly Soucy; her sister Barbara Reed and brother David Holden; many extended family, including in-laws and nieces and nephews to whom she was very close. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM, Friday, July 21, 2017, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
