Orrington & Bangor - Carol Diane (Coffin) Fogg went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Ernie, on November 26, 2018. She was born on February 5, 1936 in Freeport, Maine, the daughter of James "Ned" Coffin and Carlene (Davis) Coffin. She grew up with a strong love of music and a beautiful contralto voice, often singing in church and at community events. She briefly served as the organist at South Freeport Congregational Church. In 1959 Carol married the love of her life, Ernest Fogg, living in several places in Maine and Massachusetts before settling in Orrington, Maine in 1967. There they raised their 3 children at their home on the River Road, which they dubbed, "Foggy Ridge."
In addition to raising her family, Carol worked as the church secretary at Second Congregational Church and briefly for the Orrington School Department before being employed as the receptionist at Prentiss & Carlisle, Inc. in Bangor, retiring in 1989. At that time, her children being grown, she operated "Foggy Ridge Bed and Breakfast" where she put her wonderful hospitality skills to work! In addition to her family and work, however, Carol's life centered around the church, always being very active. For many years she attended Second Congregational Church in Brewer, where she sang in the choir, baked pies for church suppers, and reached out to the elderly, always including those who might be lonely in Sunday or holiday dinners. In 1980, Carol and Ernie began attending East Orrington Congregational Church and that became her second home, singing in the choir, serving as a deacon, and "visiting shut-ins." She hated the thought of anyone being alone or lonely and she would regularly reach out, introducing herself to any new person and making sure she knew everyone's name. As health problems eventually prevented her from driving, she started writing notes to those who were ill or experiencing difficulties, doing whatever she could to bring joy to people's lives. Even in the assisted living home where she lived last few years of her life, she insisted on cooking meals or special treats for those with whom she lived and the caregivers who became part of her family. She will long be remembered for her beautiful voice, her excellent dinners and pies, and her determined nature.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Ernest Fogg, and her brother, Fred Coffin. She is survived by her children, Heidi Corliss and her husband, Brian of Hampden; Douglas Fogg and his wife, Danielle, of Orrington; and Heather Fogg and her wife, Angela Hobson of Orrington; and her brother, Edward Coffin and his wife May, of Augusta. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Cory Fogg of Garner, NC; Ben Bouchard and his wife, Elizabeth, of Denver Colorado; Taylor Fogg and her fiancé, Ryan Davies of Durham, NC; Jarrod Bouchard of Tampa, FL; Cooper Hogan of Orrington; Ashton Fogg of Orrington, SSgt. Kyle Hogan and his wife Gabrielle of Orrington, Justice Fogg of Orrington; and Dillon Corliss and his fiance, Amanda Vallee of Cleveland, OH; also 3 great-granddaughters: Addisen Hogan, Aubrey Davies, and Evelyn Hogan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Orrington Congregational Church music program.
