Pauline Bucknam

Obituary of Pauline Bucknam

Bangor - Pauline Bucknam, 84, passed away in her home on February 8, 2025, after a short illness. Pauline was born in Rumford, Maine on October 30, 1940, the daughter of Jay and Maude Bucknam.  Pauline is survived by her brother John Bucknam.

Pauline was supported by OHI for the past 37 years and touched the lives of many people throughout that time.  Pauline also knew many people who worked and attended the Community Support Program she attended for many years at PVI / Amicus, and her Lynx driver, Frank. Pauline was best known for her love of yard sales, going out to eat, country music, fishing, and men in uniform!

Pauline will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her, especially those who lived with her and supported her over the years, including her friend Michelle and her family.   Pauline feared abuse, rejection and abandonment and so was often worried that she would have to leave her home and return to an institution.  Eventually it was Michelle who reassured her and convinced her that she would not ever have to return to the life that frightened her so much.  Pauline maintained many important relationships with people throughout her lifetime.

OHI would like to thank  St. Joseph’s Hospice service for their support and care of both Pauline and OHI staff.

Please join OHI as we honor and celebrate the life of Pauline at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at OHI, 203 Maine Avenue in Bangor.
