Obituary of Rose Alice Marden
Bangor, ME & San Antonio, TX - Dr. Rose Alice (Constantine) Marden passed from our world into the arms of the Lord early on the morning of July 5, 2025, in Worcester, Massachusetts, just as the first light of dawn broke across the sky. Rose dedicated her life's work to spreading the Good News that "God loves the messed up people," and taught evangelization and faith formation for over fifty years. She held a Masters in Theology, a Masters of Divinity and Doctorate in Ministry and served on the faculty of Oblate School of Theology where she directed the Masters in Pastoral Ministry program. She was committed to ecumenical ministry that reached across denominations and cultures and helped countless people from across the globe deepen their own faith and learn to minister to others compassionately. Rose could teach anyone from little children to elders and did so with gentle compassion that invited people of all ages into learning. A sharp dresser with an even sharper wit, Rose was an academically gifted, driven professional who always excelled at anything she put her mind to.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Rogan Constantine and Earl R. Constantine and her beloved brother Michael Constantine. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Dr. Harry Edwin Marden, Jr.; her children Elizabeth Marden, and John Marden; Daughter-in-law Katherine Marden; grandsons, Gunnar Scharschu, Griffin Scharschu, Ezra Marden and Abraham Marden; siblings, Patrick Constantine, Betty Constantine Floris (Herb Floris) and Timothy Constantine (Janet Constantine); her niece, Sophia Constantine Hassay (Cole Hassay) and nephews, Michael Rogan Constantine and Michael Patrick Constantine. She was a wife, a sister, an aunt, a Grammie and our Mama.
“She fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith.”
