Obituary of Patricia E. Hersey Ingalls

Hampden & Bangor - Patricia “Pat” Hersey Ingalls, loving wife, mother and grandmother died quietly in Bangor, Maine after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on October 22, 2025.  She was 82 years old.

Pat grew up in Aroostook County with her parents Ruby and Laurence S.  Pat was a fun-loving child who loved taking dance lessons, picking potatoes and spending summers at Seal Bay Girls Camp.  She graduated from Houlton High School where she met Vaughn Hersey whom she later married. She and Vaughn settled in Brewer where they raised their children.

While her children were young, she stayed at home caring for them. She was an excellent cook, girl scout leader, and baseball mom.  She worked for a time as a lab tech, ed tech, and then spent many years selling Avon. After Pat was widowed, she married Wayne Ingalls and helped to raise his two children. They enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and Europe, and caring for their beautiful flower gardens.  In her later years Pat spent many hours doing genealogy research.

Pat will be remembered for her big laugh, playful spirit and boundless energy.  She lovingly raised two families and had enough energy left to help care for and joyously play with her grandchildren making countless memories. Her family will carry the memory of her loving nature, funny songs, and crazy antics for a lifetime.

Pat is survived by her husband, Wayne, her step-sister Elizabeth, her children and their spouses Vaughn Leigh and Joanie, Lauri and Brian, Christopher and Michele, her stepdaughters Molly and Jill, grandchildren Jackie, Jill, Tyler, Nicholas, Michaela, Lizzie, great grandchildren Logan and Lila, and numerous special friends and neighbors. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held at Hermon Baptist Church at 11am on Saturday December 27, 2025.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Pat’s memory to:
