To the Crooker family: I am sending you my deepest sympathy on the loss of Randy. I remember him as a faithful BDN newsboy and a neighbor who enjoyed spending time in our barn. We kept sheep, pigs and chickens, just down the road from his family home and he helped with the work of adding a roof ro the chicken house. We appreciated his interest and work ethic. May your memories give you comfort.

Randy grew up across the road from my family Hampden. He and my sons often hung out together. For many years, he was the neighborhood Bangor Daily News paperboy - on foot - walking his entire route carrying a heavy canvas bag of papers. No matter how cold or how deep the snow or how miserable the day, he was up at the crack of dawn, long before anyone else in the neighborhood. The newspaper was always neatly tucked inside the door when I went to fetch it. He was reliable, dependable, conscientious, and thoughtful. I admired how seriously he took his early morning task and how well did it. And of course, on weekdays, after he had finished the paper route, he still had to get ready to go to school and be on time when the bus rolled around. He was always kind to my sons who were a few years younger, including them in neighborhood games of softball, which he often organized.
It makes me sad to learn of his passing. My son Jsaon and Andrew and I extend to his family and his brothers and sisters our sincere sympathy.
