Eddington – Kathryn A. Foley, 91, died December 14, 2025 in Holden. She was born in Winterport July 31, 1934, the daughter of F. Philip and Pauline A. (Pelkey) Foley.

Kathryn enjoyed her hometown and her classmates and was a proud alumnae of Winterport High School where she excelled in sports. She studied piano from an early age. She graduated from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York where she majored in music. She then attended and graduated from Villa Schifanoia in Florence, Italy with a masters in fine arts. She started her teaching career at the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor purchasing the studio of her childhood mentor Mary Hayes Hayford. Later she spent her teaching career at the University of Maine in Orono, retiring as an Associate Professor of Music. Kathryn did post graduate studies in Salzburg, Austria and Boston University and had many recitals in Camden, Surry, Orono and Bangor. She played with the Bangor Symphony many times and was a member of the Carnegie Trio. In retirement she loved accompanying the Univ. of Maine Men’s Black Bear Chorus.

A devout Catholic, Kathryn was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish. She was a 50 year member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Cecelia Circle #428, Old Town and enjoyed memberships in Altrusa and participating in its charitable activities. She was a founder of the Maine Music Teachers Association and she was a member of the Maine Good Sam RV Club making many lifelong friends along with enjoying her travels. She and her Manhattenville classmates continued a strong friendship with many memorable gatherings along the east coast. Kathryn was an honorary member of the New England Scottish Terriers Rescue Club, served on the board, raised funds and housed and transported many rescued dogs. She loved her many Scotty’s over her lifetime including Gabriel which she doted on until her passing. Kathryn had a wonderful circle of friends and neighbors. She enjoyed her home, entertaining and the wildlife at Davis Pond as well as her cottage at Seven Tree Pond in Union.

Surviving are several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, Dec. 22, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, York St., Bangor. Family and friends may visit 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor immediately prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport. Messages and memories of Kathryn Ann may be shared on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
