Obituary of Richard M. Curtis

Richard “Dick” Merle Curtis, 89, passed away peacefully December 27, 2025 in Bangor. He was born September 21, 1936 in Derby, the son of Merle Warren and Beatrice Grace (Moore) Curtis.


In February of 1956, Dick and Anita Irene Currier were married and had recently celebrated 68 years of marriage before Anita passed in 2024. Together they raised four children. Dick worked at Furbush Roberts Printing Co from 1953 until retirement. 

He is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Stewart and her husband Bob, Alison Haskell and her husband Wayne and Barbara Lyford and her husband Tony; grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer, Mary, Angela, Merilee, and Jeremy; great grandchildren, Forest, Laura, Claire, Chase, Aria, Elijah, Raymond and Asher; Siblings, Wayne Curtis and his wife, Dorothy, Betty Henderson and Daniel Curtis; sisters-in-law, Catherine Looke and Brenda Littlefield; a brother-in-law, Jim Currier. He was predeceased by his parents Merle and Beatrice; brothers Ralph Warren and Jeffrey; son, Ralph Peter and his wife, Cheryl; grandson, Ryan Lyford;  brothers-in-law, Russ Twaddell Jr and Dale Henderson. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor.  Burial will be afterward at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Messages and memories may be shared with his family on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
