Obituary of James D. Hewey
Hermon – James D. Hewey, 57, husband of Janine Hewey, passed at his home January 30, 2026 surrounded by family. He was born February 18, 1968, in Illinois; the son of Duane E. and Deanne L. (Smedema) Hewey.
Jim was a 1986 graduate from Brewer High School. He worked for Dennis Food Service and Waterfront concerts, but it was his 26-year career with Maine Distributors that defined him. Jim took the experience and education he gained as a draft beer technician for Maine Distributers and began his own business in 2019. Happy Hour Draft Services provided draft beer and beverage system sales and service throughout the state of Maine and reflected Jim’s truest passion. Jim’s love for the hospitality industry consumed much of his time. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working around his home, or on his Tuesday afternoon golfing adventure with his best friend, Jerod Edes.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Janine of 25 years of Herman are three children, Kasey Hewey of Holden, Janae Hewey of Bangor and Duane Hewey of Hermon; two sisters, Jenny Jones of England and Natalie Thomas and her husband, Mark of Florida; one brother, Jeff Hewey of Brewer. He will be dearly missed by his grand dog Samantha, the family dog, Harley and his best furry companion, Wyatt.
Jim didn’t want a traditional service but rather for friends and family to come together in celebration. The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date. Messages and memories may be shared with his family on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
