Gloria (Shorey) Martin
Old Town - Gloria Joanne Milton Martin, 89, of Old Town, Maine, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born January 26, 1937, in Enfield, Maine, to Lawrence and Harriett Milton.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband, Douglas Martin; her children, Debora (Elmer) McAuliffe, William (Kelly) Shorey, Mark (Michelle) Shorey, and Jill (Don) King; and her stepsons, Kevin (Jennifer) Martin and Nathan Martin. She is also survived by her siblings Sharon Saucier, Brenda Kinney, and Dalton (Donna) Milton, as well as her sister-in-law, Florence (Ensley) Milton.
She was predeceased by her first husband of 39 years, William “Skip” Shorey; her parents; and her siblings Ensley Milton, Lawrence Milton Jr., and Valarie Foster.
Gloria was a proud and loving grandmother to Kate (Jay) Saucier, Nicholas (Cheryl) Brandmeir, Zachary (Stephanie) Brandmeir, Jennifer (Paul) Bamford, Courtney (Scott) Walker, Taylor (Joe) Doucette, and Stella Fox. She also leaves behind cherished great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Libby Saucier; Bradley and Mia Bamford; Robert and Madeline Brandmeir; Alban and Lily Brandmeir; Ivy Walker; and Jett Doucette. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gloria attended Howland High School, where she excelled in public speaking and proudly participated in Junior Prize Speaking. She was also an enthusiastic cheerleader throughout her high school years.
She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career working alongside her husband at Skip’s Auto Repair in Old Town where she managed administrative operations. Together they built and operated a successful family business, later passing it on to their sons. Gloria remained involved in the business until her retirement in 2025.
A talented seamstress, Gloria took great pride in her craftsmanship. Among her most treasured creations were a three-piece suit for her husband Skip, a wedding gown for her niece Barb Finch, and a prom gown for her daughter Debbie. She was also an accomplished baker who delighted family and friends with her beautifully decorated cakes.
Gloria was a faithful and active member of the United Baptist Church in Old Town for more than 60 years. Her service included roles as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Women’s Fellowship Group, assistant church treasurer, and leader of Pioneer Girls. Her faith and dedication to her church community were central to her life.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at United Baptist Church, 88 Middle Street, Old Town, Maine. A reception will follow at the church. Gloria will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to family, steadfast faith, and the care she extended to all who knew her.
