Obituary of Susan Marie Gaudet

Susan M. Gaudet, 81, of Bangor passed away on June 13, 2026.  She was born Feb. 1, 1945 in Bangor to Kenneth A. and Rose Mabel (Dupre) Johnson. She graduated from St. John's Elementary School, and John Bapst High School in 1963.  She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Maine, Orono.  She taught at Brewer High School for one year following the completion of her undergraduate degree, and then was employed by the General Alumni Association of the University of Maine as Assistant Director of Alumni Activities, from 1968 to 1970 and from 1973 to 1975.  She returned to teaching in 1978 at St. John's Catholic School and later taught at Fruit Street and Mary Snow Schools.  She retired from teaching in 2005, but continued as a substitute teacher in the Bangor School Department until 2010.  She was a seasonal employee of L.L.Bean.  She lived most of her life in Bangor, but moved to Brewer in 2006.

She is survived by her son, Donald C. Gaudet, Jr. and his wife, Kristen Stevens of Portland, two grandchildren, Caroline Benson and her husband, Anthony of Old Orchard Beach and Ava Gaudet of Portland, a sister-in-law, Patricia Johnson of Massachusetts; a special nephew and niece, John R. Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Kelly, and Michele Bass and her husband, Brian, as well as their children, Tabitha and Emily Johnson and Zachary and Jordan Bass.  She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Donald C. Gaudet, Sr., her sister, Marilyn Johnson and by two brothers, Kenneth Johnson and John Johnson, Sr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, June 22, 2026 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ohio St, Bangor. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Andrea Ritz Clinics in Paraguay, a non-profit organization established by George and Sylvia Ritz who built and operate clinics in remote Paraguayan villages, in memory of their daughter, Andrea.  Send to: George and Sylvia Ritz, 572 Main Rd., Bradford, ME 04410.
