
Obituary of Donald Guy Decker
EDDINGTON--Donald Decker passed away peacefully July 27, 2026, in Bangor. Don was born July 13, 1934, in Brewer, the only child of Donald & Marjorie Decker.
He attended Brewer schools and graduated from Brewer High, Class of 1952. Don attended the University of Maine, majoring in mechanical engineering. He graduated in 1963, after serving in the military. Don worked in paper mills in Brewer and Jay, retiring early to take care of his mother after the death of his father. Don was a longtime member of Penobscot County Conservation Association, as well as a member of Eddington Salmon Club, helping to build the new clubhouse. Don was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his camp on Lucerne. He was a faithful member of the East Eddington Community Church.
He married Sylvia Decker in 2009 and became the proud stepfather of Stan Fish, Sara Fish, and Susan Austin. He is also survived by grandchildren Allison, Rebecca, Brian, Brad, Isaac, and Jack; great-grandchildren Nathan, Audrey, Owen, Wyatt, Paige, Charlotte, Avah and Isla. Don was predeceased by his parents; stepson Stan; special cousin Jean Lobbregt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Eddington Community Church Building Fund, PO Box 185, Eddington, ME 04428.
Friends and family are invited to visit 11 AM to 1 PM Friday, August 7, 2026, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A graveside service with military honors will immediately follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hammond St. Ext., Bangor. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM, Saturday, August 8, at the East Eddington Community Church. 1410 Main Rd., Eddington. All are invited to a reception in the church hall following the service.
