Obituary of Isabel Russell

BANGOR – Isabel C. Russell passed away two weeks short of her 99^th birthday after a period of declining health on July 30, 2023.  She was born August 11, 1924 in Bangor, the daughter of Henry W. McClay and Mary I. (Gallagher) McClay.

Isabel was a graduate of John Bapst High School and Beal College and worked for New England Telephone for many years.  She enjoyed her membership in the Telephone Pioneers and volunteering at The Attic. Isabel was a lifetime communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Isabel was predeceased by her parents; husband, James L. Russell, Sr.; brothers, Walter H. and Francis D. McClay.  Isabel is survived by her children, James L. Russell, Jr. and wife, Mary Ellen, of Bangor, John H. Russell of Glenburn, Charles G. Russell and wife, Anna, of Lakeland, FL, David F. Russell and wife, Nanci, of Wellesley, MA, Jed Russell and wife, Kari, of Sanford, and Mary Kathleen Nightingale and partner, Michael Dumont of Hermon; grandchildren, Jamie Russell, Libby Russell, Doug Russell, Misty Russell, Jonathan Russell, Katie Russell, David Russell, Michael Russell, Jillian Russell, Jordan Russell, Mallory Nightingale and Griffin Nightingale; great-grandchildren, Maya Russell, Tatum Russell, Cohen Russell, Malia Jones, Austin Russell, Charley Syed, Dawson Russell, Cody Joslyn, Braedon Russell, Graham Russell, Miles Russell and Matthew Russell; and great-great-grandchild Oaklynn Russell.

Family and friends are invited to visit 4-6 P.M., Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M., Friday, August 11, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor.  Burial will follow at Mt.
