Obituary of Ann Kathleen Marston

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ann Kathleen (O’Connor) Marston, 84, passed away December 23, 2023.  Ann is the daughter of Gertrude Bradley O’Connor and Edward O’Connor, she was born at home, August 29, 1939, on Bowdoin St. in Millinocket Maine.

As a child, she had fond memories of living in Millinocket and kept in touch with friends and family over the years. She started school at 4 years old and graduated as Valedictorian of the 1956 class from Stearns High School, Millinocket Maine. She met her husband Ervin Marston in Millinocket and had many fond memories of spending her younger years with him. In August 1957, they were wed in Millinocket and married for over 66 years.  Ann was a dedicated wife, supporting Ervin during his military service career.  She was a devoted mother, raising their family in Valdosta GA, Manchester NH, and in 1966, happily settling in Bangor. She was a longtime parishioner of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and was active through the church serving meals at the Bangor Soup Kitchen.

In retirement, Ann and Ervin spent 23 wonderful winters in New Smyrna Beach Florida where she made many lifelong friends.  She was an avid reader and game player extraordinaire, always eager to play or learn any card or board game in addition to attending local theatre and boat trips.  Summer vacations were spent at family camps in Millinocket. She especially enjoyed spending time with Ervin, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at camp.  It was during these times that she shared her love of playing games, fishing, and swimming with her children and grandchildren.

Ann’s favorite hobby was photography. She documented birthdays, weddings, graduations, holidays, vacations, nature and beautiful flowers in her yard.  She thoughtfully created photo albums for her family and friends, often gifting a specially designed photo album for birthdays.  Recently Ann and Ervin moved into Solstice Senior Living Community in Bangor, where she made many new friends while participating in activities and enjoying musical events.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sister-in-law John and Shirley O’Connor; brother David O’Connor; grandson Andrew Hoover, along with many close cousins. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Ervin Marston; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Kim Marston; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Chris Enman; daughter and son-in law, Cheryl and Mark Hoover; grandchildren Dana (Ryan) Leet; Sarah (Kyle) Knowlton; Justin (Lydia) Enman; Erick and Aaron Hoover; Sara, Olivia, and Brandon Marston; great grandchildren, Jamie, Connor, and Bradley Knowlton; Camryn and Ryan Jr. Leet; Jack and Kingston Marston; Berkley Enman and Christian Hoover; Sister, Susan O’Connor; Sister-in-Law, Nancy O’Connor; Sister-in-Law & Brother-in-Law; Rhonda (Marston) and Jeff Hopkinson;  many cousins, nieces and nephews,  The Solstice Senior Living Community; and her friend of 50 years, Marlene Coleman.
