Obituary of Donald Eyves Aucoin

Orrington - Donald "Pipi" Aucoin, 88, died at home on Dec. 7, 2016, He was born April 4, 1928 to Eyves and Claudia (Willette) Aucoin. Don lied about his age and joined the Navy at the age of 17 in order to serve his country. After his service in the Navy, he worked for the Maine Air National Guard 101st Air Refueling Wing for 39 years. He received a Distinguished Service Award at the time of his retirement on December 31, 1987. Don raised 6 children with his wife Eleanor on a farm in Orrington. He was a hard working man who tended to his farm before and after his job at the Guard yet still found time to be a Dad. He set a great example of the value of hard work and commitment to family and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed bowling in leagues, golfing with his wife and gardening. Don found happiness in visits from his grandchildren & great grandchildren and is fondly remembered by them as Pipi. In later years he found pleasure in building puzzles and watching the deer in the fields and the birds and squirrels that came to the feeders that hung outside his windows. He liked to joke about the "politicians" (turkeys) that came by each day to eat under the feeders. He is predeceased by his wife Eleanor Aucoin, daughter, Holly Aucoin, son, Donald E. Aucoin, Jr. brother Earle Aucoin, and sisters Claire Bruss and Gloria Pesch, He is survived by daughters, Stephanie and husband James Mooney, Jr., Nadine and husband John Higgins, Stacey and husband Pat Van Dyne, Celeste and husband John Grindle and Deardra and husband Randy Pavliska, grandchildren James Mooney, III and friend Leslie Tax, Thomas and Rachel Mooney, Renee and Joseph Lozon, Monica and Jeff Paul, Skip and Liz Van Dyne, Zachary and Heather Van Dyne, Paul and Alicia Harriman, Shawna Harriman and Rebecca Gallagher; great grandchildren Keira and Brady Lozon, Cadence, Thomas and Zoe Van Dyne and Wesley and Ethan Harriman and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express its gratitude to the Visiting Angels & St Joseph Hospice program. These agencies made the end of life journey a lot easier. A special thanks to Angel Emily/Anne who helped ease his final moments. In accordance with Donald's wishes, no services will be held.
