Obituary of Kathleen Tressie Rowell

Bangor—Kathleen Tressie (Dwyer) Rowell, 84, went home to be with the angels that she loved so much on Sept. 4, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family when she left us. Kay was born in Bangor Nov. 8, 1932, the daughter of Fred and Inez (Canning) Dwyer).

 

She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from John Bapst High School at age 17 and went to work for New England Telephone Company. She held many positions, everything from operator to line assigner, until she retired in 1989. Kay married Ken Rowell on Jan. 14, 1953, and they raised four children. She was very proud of her family and their love for each other.

 

She was predeceased by her parents; seven siblings; grandson Lee Rowell. Kay is survived by her husband Kenneth of Bangor; sons Kenneth O Rowell Jr. and wife Diane of Bangor, Kevin J. Rowell of AR; daughters Katherine and husband Richard Davis of Bangor, Karen and husband Woody of Hermon; four grandchildren and spouses; three great-grandchildren; sister Teresa Brown of Brewer; many nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank everyone at Maine Veterans Home for the loving care they provided Kay and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Maine Veterans Home, Activity Fund, 44 Hogan Rd., Bangor, ME 04401.

 

A graveside service will take place 3 PM Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at Lakeview Cemetery, Western Ave., Hampden. Kay requested a party for a funeral so family and friends are invited to the Hampden Snowmobile Club, next door to the cemetery, for a joyous gathering after the service.
