Obituary of M. Lucille Brimmer
Mary Lucille (Dougherty) Brimmer, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2018. She was born April 9, 1922 in Brewer, Maine, the eldest child of Hugh F. and Margaret (Lintott) Dougherty. She lived almost the entirety of her life at the Dougherty homestead on Chamberlain Street in Brewer, and was the fourth generation to do so. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Brimmer and her two brothers; William L Dougherty and Hugh F Dougherty, Jr. Lucille was a graduate of Brewer High School and Beal Secretarial School. She worked 45 years for Bangor & Aroostook Railroad retiring as the executive secretary. Lucille also enjoyed traveling, whether it was with friends to Europe or road trips with her beloved husband John. She was lovingly called Nana Cille by her Brimmer grandchildren and Auntie Cille by numerous Dougherty cousins, all of which respected and loved her dearly. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, and dedicated much of her time in service to the parish in one way or another.
Surviving are her three sons and their wives; G. David and JoAnn Brimmer of Portland, John C. and Sharon Brimmer of Indiana, PA and Russell J. and Sharon Brimmer of Levant. She also leaves behind beloved grandchildren (and spouses); Michele (Chris) Hersey, Burke Brimmer, Michael (Erin) Brimmer, Kimberly (Matt) Geesey, Kristan (Richard) Lawer, Kandace (John) Gettins, Karyl (Bryan) Miller, Nathan Brimmer, Jeremy Brimmer and Melody Brimmer; as well as 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. The immediate family also includes cousin Michael Dougherty who helped to take great care of his beloved Auntie Cille.
Family and Friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Monday, July 16, 2018 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 531 No. Main St., Brewer. Burial will be afterward at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 217 York St. Bangor, ME 04401.
