Obituary of Nona Jane Treworgy

Brewer- Nona Jane Martin Treworgy, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by her three daughters on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. She was born September 13, 1942, the oldest daughter of Gilbert Patrick and Anne Teresa (McBreairty) Martin.

Nona grew up in Caribou, graduating from Caribou High School in 1960. After graduating, Nona moved to the Brewer area and worked for Day's Jewelers. Nona was an avid bowler and was very active in the Women's International Bowling Congress serving in various board capacities over the years. She traveled all over the US and was a representative of Team USA in Albany, NY and San Diego, CA. While raising her girls, Nona worked at Dysart's Restaurant, and obtained her degree from Husson College. She then worked at the University of Maine until her retirement in 1995.

Nona was predeceased by her parents, and sisters Naida Martin and Natalie Julian. She is survived by daughters Jodie Griffith and husband Tim, of Westbrook, Jane Hewes and husband Mark, of Brewer, and Jean Weeks and husband Carroll of Guilford; grandchildren Ryan and Erin Weeks, Maxwell and Martin Hewes and Benjamin and Isabelle Griffith; great-granddaughter Madilyn Jean Weeks, goddaughter Laura Fontane of Sayville, NY; sisters Norma Fontane of NYC, Nancy Brooks of Corinth, Nola Cole of Lake Havasu, AZ; brother Norris Martin of Eddington.
