Bangor – Cecile E. Scanlon, 77, wife of the late James Scanlon, died April 5, 2019 at a Bangor hospital after a period of declining health. She was born April 8, 1941 in Edmunston, New Brunswick, the daughter of Emile and Antonia (Dionne) Couture.

Cecile was a longtime resident of Fairmont area of Bangor after moving from Edmunston, NB. She worked as an administrative assistant in human resources and accounting for both, Fraser Paper and Canadian Customs for several years. She was a prayerful and faithful Christian woman, a lifelong Catholic and communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of St. Paul the Apostle Women’s Council.

Surviving are three stepchildren, Penny Vosburg of North Carolina, Michael Scanlon of Stonington and Timothy Scanlon of Glenburn; several step grandchildren. She will be remembered by a dear friend, Gene Gagnon of Glenburn who assisted her during her illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor. Family and friends may visit 11 AM to 12:30 PM Tuesday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor immediately prior to the Funeral Mass. A reception will follow and burial will be later in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Women’s Council, c/o the church office, 217 York St., Bangor, ME  04401.
