Obituary of Robert M. Mutty-Bessey

Bangor - Robert M. Mutty-Bessey, 60, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 14, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family  after a four year battle of acute Crohn’s disease. He was born on March 23rd, 1959, in Bangor Maine, the son of Robert W. Mutty and Mary E. (Buckley) Mutty. 

 

Robert graduated from Brewer High School and attended the University of Maine, Orono.  He started his career at the age of 26 at New England Telephone Company and continued to work for 30 plus years at Verizon and ending with Fair Point where he retired due to his health.  Robert was elected as the Union Steward for IEBW for many years.  One of Robert’s many interests was in the culinary arts.  He loved to cook intricate meals.  He was the ultimate host always making things elegant and special. 

 

Robert is survived by his beloved husband of 34 years James Bessey;  his sisters Kathleen Lavin of Brewer and her husband Michael, Karen Ladjimi of Stamford, CT and her husband Alexandre; his special nieces and nephews, Heather, Jen, Maryandra, Neil, Jessica, Ryan, Alexandra, Tony, Lauren and many great nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and many beloved dogs.

 

Family and friends may visit 3 - 6 PM Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where a service honoring Robert’s life will be held at 6 Pm as the visitation concludes. Columbarium placement will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor at a later date. Messages and memories may be shared with his family at kileyandfoley.com.
