Leon Fuller

Obituary of Leon Bower Fuller

Leon Bower Fuller, 62, passed away in his home on September 21, 2019 after an extended battle with cancer. Leon was born in Belfast, Maine on September 3, 1957, the son of Lewis Eldred Fuller and Norma Bower Schilling.  He is survived by his siblings, Brenda Fuller Brown; Nellie Fuller Harriman; Lewis Fuller, Jr.; Donald Stephenson II and wife, Jeri; Shawn Stephenson; and Colburn Herrick and wife, Mary.

Leon was supported by OHI for the past 25 years and touched the lives of many people throughout that time.  Leon will be best remembered for his love of Christmas and caroling; listening to music by the Beatles; watching football with Teresa; and baking brownies with Pam.  He loved books, animals, watching action movies and sitting in the sun on his back deck.  Leon also had an active side and loved demolition.  In healthier times, Leon was nicknamed “Superman” by many who knew him because he could lift very heavy machinery that he would find during his walks in the woods.

Leon will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him, especially the friends he lived with and those who have supported him, both past and present. He was the kind of person who truly endeared himself to those who knew him and so he maintained important relationships with many people throughout his lifetime.

OHI would like to thank Beacon hospice for their support and care of both, Leon and our staff as well as a special thank you to Mary Hanks and all of Leon’s neighbors who made sure that he was able to celebrate his birthday and Christmas before his passing.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at OHI, 203 Maine Avenue, Bangor Maine. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer. Messages and memories of Leon may be shared at kileyandfoley.com.
