Obituary of Gertrude Annie Hunt

Orneville & Bangor--Gertrude Annie (Lyford) Hunt, 89, went to live with her Lord on October 31, 2019.  She was born in Orneville April 24, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Herbest) Lyford.

 

Gertrude loved to sew, knit, and crochet.  She was always working on a jigsaw puzzle “to keep her hands busy and mind sharp.”  She especially enjoyed visiting with her family.  She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah’s. 

 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Oscar; son Oscar Jr.; daughter Edith; granddaughter Melody; sister Elba Cottrell; brothers Frank Jr., Robert, Newell.  Gertrude is survived by son Gary and wife Lori of Parkman; daughters Elizabeth Thompson of Hermon, Ruth Geiger of Somerville, SC; sisters Linda Thompson and Brenda Bowden of Charleston; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Family and friends are invited to visit 4-6 PM, Monday, November 4, 2019, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.  Burial beside her husband will take place 10 AM, Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.  Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com
