Obituary of Allen Elliot Jamieson
Bangor – Allen Elliot Jamieson, Sr., 93, died March 9, 2019 in Bangor. He was born June 1, 1925 in Prince Edward Island, Canada, the son of Laura (Moore) Turner.
Allen married his beloved wife Barbara in May of 1947. He worked for C.H. Rice Company and then Jordan’s Meats for more than 40 years, many of those years alongside Barbara. In 1975 Allen proudly became a Naturalized Citizen of the USA. Allen and Barbara were communicants of St. Mary’s Catholic Church much of their lives. Allen was a Knights of Columbus 4th degree member, as well as Eagle’s Club and Moose Club. He and Barbara loved the time they spent at Green Lake and, following their retirement, the time they spent in Florida. Allen was much loved by his family for his dedication to them and his strong work ethic. His smile and laughter will be greatly missed.
Allen was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Barbara (Fessenden) Jamieson in 2018 and by his two sons, William Jamieson and Allen Elliott Jamieson, Jr. Surviving are his granddaughter, Michele Jamieson Zigrossi and husband Dominick of Walden, NY; his grandson, Chad Elliott Jamieson and wife Kristian of Holden; two great grandsons, Nicholas Allen Zigrossi and Joseph Robert Zigrossi of Walden, NY; beloved daughter-in-law, Catherine Gardner Jamieson of Holden; his siblings, Thomas Turner, Janice (Turner) George and Paul Turner all of Massachusetts; many much loved nieces, nephews and extended family. Allen was also predeceased by three sisters, Hazel (Irving) Hopkins, Amy (Irving McCulloch) Hall, Edna (Turner) Vaillancourt and by a brother, Edward Turner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, March 18, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor at a later date. Arrangements trusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer and messages and memories of Allen may be shared with his family at kileyandfoley.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to your local Humane Society in his name, due to his love of animals.
