Franklin A. Daigle
BREWER and ORONO – Franklin Arthur Daigle, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 4, 2020. He was born February 15, 1927 in Fort Fairfield, Maine to the late Frank E. and Eva M. (Greenier) Daigle.
Frank attended schools in Fort Fairfield and NYA Quoody Village Trade School to become a Machinist at Presque Isle Air Base. He was drafted into the Army in 1944 and served in WWII in the European Theater of Operation in Germany and France. He was also recalled to active duty in 1950 during the Korean Conflict and served at Breckenridge, Kentucky.
After coming home from Europe, he lived in Nashua, New Hampshire where he met the love of his life and best friend, Mary Theresa Mason from North Troy, Vermont. They were married July 11, 1953. Frank and Mary spent the majority of their lives raising their family in Brewer although they had recently moved to Dirigo Pines Retirement Community in Orono.
Frank was employed at Overhead Door and Aubuchon Hardware in Nashua, NH. He went on to work for Sherwin Williams Paint Company for 20 years as a Manager, Dealer and Industrial Sales Representative. After retiring, he worked at the Bangor House in maintenance until 1992. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 70 years and a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Brewer. His pastime enjoyments were woodworking and golf, but above all he will be remembered for his love of his wife of 66 years and their four children.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Theresa Daigle; his sister Madelyn Williams of Kennebunkport, ME; four children, Gary Daigle and his significant other Carol Inman of Monroe, ME; Daniel Daigle and his wife Michelle of Rutland, VT; Catherine Beahm and her husband Richard of Weare, NH; Robert Daigle and his wife Kerry of Hampden, ME; five grand-children Mike Daigle and his wife Elizabeth of Pittsford, VT; Shelby Daigle of Rutland, VT; Zach Field of Fort Bragg, NC; and Lindsey and Spencer Beahm of Weare, NH; as well as several nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his sister Leona Daigle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date at a time to be announced at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 425 S. Main Street, Brewer. Burial will be at Notre Dame Catholic Cemetery in North Troy, VT. Arrangements made by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State Street, Brewer.
