Phyllis Irene Adams, 91, took her last breath in the arms of her daughter, Vicky, on April 7, 2020 at Mingus Terrace Assisted Living Home, Cottonwood, AZ. She was born May 27, 1928 in Brewer, Maine, to Walter F. and Jennie G. (Murray) Arnold.

Phyllis lived and grew up in Brewer, East Holden, and Eddington. She fondly remembered tap dancing as a young girl and playing drums for four years with the Brewer High School band. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1947. She married John E. Adams on December 19, 1947. She was a homemaker known for her baking and quilting skills. She was especially known for her pies, strawberry shortcake, and whoopie pies which she lovingly made for family, friends, and neighbors. Phyllis also sewed beautiful quilts for all seven of her grandchildren and other family members. She moved to and lived her last five years in Arizona.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband John E. Adams; siblings Everett Arnold, Lawrence Arnold, Edson Arnold, Roy Arnold, and Ruth (Arnold) Bickford. She is survived by her three children: Vicky Sandell and husband Steven Sandell, Sr. of Arizona, Dana Adams and wife, Wanda Adams of Georgia, and Linda Reeves and husband James Reeves of Maine; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Burial for Phyllis and John will take place 10 AM Thursday, Oct., 21, 2021 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta with military honors being rendered. Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com

Burial
