Obituary of Judith Lee Gillis

Bangor & South Portland--Judith Gillis, 71, passed on August 27, 2020 after a brief illness. Judy grew up in South Portland with her sisters, Deb and Sharon. She loved sharing stories of their times together on water skis or driving the Volkswagen Beetle, spending time at camp and shopping with their mother, Louise. After attending school at Kansas State University she moved to Massachusetts, and then settled in Bangor to raise her son in a community she held dear to her heart. Judy established her Massage Therapy practice, where she provided treatment to many clients whom she valued immensely for more than 20 years. She loved taking care of her clients and family, providing a loving home and enjoying a good conversation or laugh over coffee with friends. Her greatest joy was her son John and the time she had with her beautiful dog Indy. Judy had a quiet strength to be admired and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by father Ernest Maxwell; mother Louise Leavitt; sister Deb Goode; beloved dogs, Heidi and Indy. Judy is survived by son John Gillis of Portland; sister Sharon Maxwell of Saco; many friends, treasured clients and neighbors who were like family.
