Obituary of Jennie Stevens Martin

BREWER - Jennie S. Martin, 94, wife of Raynald A. Martin, died September 2, 2020 in Bangor after a period of declining health. She was born May 2, 1926 in Farmington, the daughter of Solomon T. and Nellie N. (Wentworth) Stevens.

 

Jennie was a teacher for several years, worked in various retail stores in the Bangor area and most importantly was a dedicated homemaker to her family. An accomplished seamstress, Jennie made many garments for her family and for many important family events over the years. She and Raynald were communicants of St. Paul the Apostle Parish for many years and served communion to the Catholic residents of Freese's Assisted Living in Bangor.

 

Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Raynald A. Martin of Bangor; three daughters, Denise Sawyer and husband Rick, Andrea Haskell and husband Charlie, Michelle Nyberg and husband Chris; ten grandchildren, Chris Sawyer, Ashlee Grindle and her husband, Paul, Chip Haskell and his wife, Hayley, Tracy Cowan and her husband, Brian, Amy Shedd and her husband, Chris, Erin Grant, Nicholas McCrea and his girlfriend Nyssa Gatcombe, Jacob McCrea and his wife, Ellie, Mahala Nyberg and Rohne Nyberg; six great grandchildren with one soon to be born; a son-in-law, Michael Grant; a brother-in-law, J. Normand Martin and his wife, Pat; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Grant in 2018 and by her parents and four siblings.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bangor. Burial will in the urn garden near the columbarium at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Livestream of the Mass will be available at www.stpaulbangor.me, "Watch Mass Live" Wednesday, Sept 9, 2020 at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Westgate Manor Activity Fund, 750 Union Street, Bangor, Maine 04401.
