Obituary of Judith A. Hart

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judith A. Hart, 80, died December 10, 2020 in Bangor after a brief illness.  She was born June 20, 1940 in Bangor, the daughter of James A. Hughes, Sr. and Mary R. (Godin) Hughes.

Judy graduated from John Bapst High School in 1958. Nursing was her calling and she completed the nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. She was an RN in the Eastern Maine Healthcare system for almost 30 years. Judy started as a “float” nurse at EMMC but settled on the psychiatric floor Blaisdell 5 (B5) for the majority of her nursing career where her compassion and empathy for others was most needed. She retired from Acadia Hospital in 2000. After retirement, most of her attention was devoted to being a mother, grandmother, aunt and great aunt. Her grandson was very special to her as were her many grand nieces and nephews. She particularly cherished the yearly extended family trip to Cape Cod every summer. Another pleasure for Judy was the monthly lunch/dinner with her John Bapst classmates that took place faithfully until the pandemic.

Surviving are her three children, Daniel Hart and his wife, Natalie Cox of Batesville, AR, Karen Hart of Portland and Colleen Hart of Bangor; one grandson, Wesley C. Hart of Batesville, AR; one sister, Dawn Price of Bangor; a beloved daughter-in-law Carrie Brown of Baileyville and sister-in-law Carroll Hughes of Barkhamsted, CT.  She also leaves her nephews Jeff Brochu and wife Suzanne of Gorham; Steve Brochu and wife Becky, of Topsham; Jason Price and wife Gretchen of Hingham, MA; and Rick Brochu and wife Angela of Bellingham, MA and many grand nieces and nephews all of whom she adored. She was predeceased by her parents, by a sister, Jacqueline Brochu and her husband Richard Brochu and by a brother, James A. Hughes, Jr.
