Obituary of Gloria P. Smith

Gloria P. Smith, 79, wife of Dean E. Smith, passed away April 5, 2021 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born May 24, 1941 in Van Buren, Maine, the daughter John F. and Odelie (Gervais) Doucette.

Gloria graduated from Sacred heart High School, Van Buren in 1959 and she worked as a credit manager for Georgia Pacific Wholesale in Bangor for seven and a half years until they closed. Gloria and Dean recently celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary.

Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Michael Wilton and his wife, Gail, Sandra Wilton Black and her husband, Clinton Black, Deana Norwood and her husband, Galen Norwood, stepsons, Philip Smith and his wife, Patty and Joel Smith; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons; one sister, Carline Madore and one brother, Roderick Doucette and his wife, Cara; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Atwater and Bonita Smith; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Reno Doucette and his wife, Pauline and Roger “Bee” Doucette and his wife, Omerine, by one sister, Rachael Ouellette and by brothers-in-law, Arlo Smith and Leon Atwater. Gloria’s family gratefully thanks the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their care and especially thanks Charleen for her devotion above and beyond her duty.

Family and friends may visit 5 - 7 PM Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor where a service will be held as the visitation concludes.
