Obituary of Paul Regan Cary

Holden and Caribou – Paul R. Cary, 69, died unexpectedly May 30, 2021, at his home in Holden. He was born May 17, 1952, in Caribou, the son of Everett W. and Gladys (Gahagan) Cary.

Paul was a graduate of Caribou High School, Class of 1970 and was a member of the 1969 State Championship basketball team. Paul went on to Husson College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1975. Paul spent over 30 years in the Mortgage industry. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, the football Giants and enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Bangor Municipal Golf Course. Paul was just a couple months away from moving to Florida to be closer to his four grandchildren that he loved so much.

He was predeceased by his sister Jane. Surviving in addition to his son, Matthew Cary and wife, Stacy, are four grandchildren, Aiden, Maddux, Silas and Emilia, all of Venice, FL; a sister, Lynn Theriault and husband, Rick of Caribou; nephews Eric, Andy and Evan; and his special friend, Cyndy Turner.  

A celebration honoring Paul’s life will be held later this summer in Bangor and Caribou. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to in Paul’s name to the New England PGA Foundation. Donations will directly support the PGA Hope (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) Veterans Golf Program at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.  Checks can be made payable to New England PGA Foundation and mail: NEPGA Foundation P.O.
