Obituary of Marie J. Sechrest

Eddington - Marie died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on September 24, 2021 as she had wished. She was born on May 20th at Calais Regional Hospital. Marie was the only child of Sophia and Warren Calder of Eastport.

Marie leaves behind her 7 “J’s” along with 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Here is the list of her 7 children: Janna Irvine of Old Town, Jack Benton of Belgrade, Judy Cluff of Eddington, Jeff Benton and his wife Bette of Tucson, AZ, Jody Benton and wife Donna of Eddington, Jory Sechrest and his fiancé Kathy of Eddington and Janeen Sechrest also Eddington.

Marie spent most of her life working in the Bangor Eddington area. She worked at TDC as a PBX phone operator as well as working for Western Union while raising 7 children on her own. Marie was predeceased by her fiancé, Lewis Leighton, her brother, Norman Young, a great grandson, Drake, 2 sons-in-law, Bob Irvine and John Cluff and Marie Casey, a daughter-in-law. We the family wish to extend our heart filled thanks to Mom's caregivers. Tonya, Kathy, Niki and Donna her weekly nurse as well as the St. Joseph Hospice Care. Mom's final journey on earth was filled with enormous love and kindness.

There will be a celebration of her life at 68 Merrill Road, Eddington from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm Saturday, October 2, 2021. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital stjude.org. Arrangements trusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer.
