Obituary of Lawrence Dana Overlock
Carmel - Lawrence Dana Overlock, 71, husband of Renee Overlock, died Sept. 29, 2021 at his home in Carmel. He was born May 20, 1950 in Newport, the son of Clair N. and Mabelle T. (Stevenson) Overlock. Larry was a 1968 graduate of Bangor High School and attended the University of Maine for a semester. As a person of dry wit and humor, he majored in Ping Pong 101. He was a US Navy veteran who reluctantly served from 1969 to 1975 during Vietnam era working in nuclear power and later as a supply clerk. Afterwards, he worked for the US Postal Service for 40 years retiring in 2012. His postal service area during the last 20 years was the Bangor Mall area and he was known by his colleagues and customers from wearing shorts year round. Larry enjoyed golfing and bowling and had a movie collection. He especially loved music with an extensive collection of albums, tapes, and CD’s ranging from the 1930’s to the todays music. He would restore music from numerous music genres to CD’s.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years whom he married in 1991 and was the love of his life, Renee Overlock of Carmel and her three children, Donald Mahoney and his wife Jennifer and granddaughters Harper and Quinn all of Holden, Laura Connors and husband, Ben and granddaughter Lillian all of Winterport and Corey Mahoney of Carmel; a brother, Stephen Overlock of Dickson, TN. He was predeceased by his parents. Larry’s family would like to thank Dr. Rock, Dr. Desalvo and Dr. John Taylor of the ALS Foundation for their excellent care.
It was Larry’s wish to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 beginning at 2 pm at his home in Carmel.
