Obituary of Kenneth Joseph Harvey

EDDINGTON--Kenneth J. Harvey, 89, peacefully passed at home surrounded by family on December 14, 2021.   Ken was born in Bangor to James and Mary (Budway) Harvey. 

 

He graduated John Bapst High School in 1951. Ken was a hall-of-fame athlete and loved recounting fond memories of travels playing basketball all over New England for both John Bapst and the Air Force.  Following graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa for the Korean War.  He swept his high school sweetheart, Joanne T. Higgins, off her feet and they married in 1953.  Ken was an expert typewriter machinist, operating his own business supporting schools and business all along the Maine coast.  Ken’s love and lessons will be imprinted on our hearts forever. 

 

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers James and Charles; cherished sister Arline ‘Auntie’ Geaghan; infant daughters Beverly and Annie; daughter-in-law Elizabeth (O’Kane) Harvey.  Ken is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Harvey; sons Stephen Harvey and partner Lisa Donau of Georgetown, TX, Scott Harvey and wife Gail of Gilbert, AZ; granddaughter Sarah Harvey and partner Ryan Hodges of Westbrook; grandsons Samuel Harvey of Denver, CO and Robert Harvey of Hobbs, NM; several special nieces and nephews, whose families he loved dearly.
