Brewer – Dwight L. Fraser, born April 4, 1923 in Newport, Maine passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on May 6, 2022.

Dwight, “Dite” to many, was a man of song and service. Other than his family, his greatest love was music. Dwight played nearly anything with strings, harmonica and was a talented vocalist. He was especially proud to be part of his bands and jam sessions, most notably The Hardly Able Band and Late Edition. Dwight served his county in the US Navy in WW2 and retired from the US Naval Reserves as Senior Chief. He was also a proud member of the VFW and served as Commander of the Post during his time. Dwight served sweet treats as the head baker at Frank’s Bakery in Bangor, Maine for 41 years.

Dwight was predeceased by his wife, Madeline A. Fraser, brothers Harold Fraser, Karl Fraser, Byron Fraser and his sister Pauline Davis. He was also predeceased by his son-in law, George H. Moore, Jr.  Dwight is survived by his 4 children who he cherished; Carolee F. Moore, Colleen F. & Richard A. Merlino, Lois-Jean Fraser & Frank Percival and Dwight L. Fraser, II as well as his grandchildren, Richard A. Merlino, Jr & Saranell Murphy, David R. Moore, Kelly J.& Matthew C.  Walton, Andrew D. & Autumn L. Graham, Zackary D. Fraser and great-grandchildren, Jacob A. Moore, Matthew Walton, Ava E. Merlino, Cameron Fraser Graham and Alexandra G. Merlino. Dwight spent 20 years with his companion, Eila Packard and they enjoyed those years together. Eila and her family also survive Dwight and continue to be part of the Fraser family. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews in the Newport Area that happen to be some of his favorite pickin’ buddies.
