Obituary of Joanne B Olsen
BRADLEY – Joanne Baker Olsen, 85, passed away August 13, 2022, at Boyd Place in Bangor. She was born in Old Town on November 6, 1936, the oldest daughter of Ernest and Agnes Baker.
Joanne graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1955. She worked at various offices including St. Regis Paper Company and several law offices in Maine and Florida. Music was very much a part of Joanne’s life and she always said it was her faith and her music that got her through the difficult days of her life. She was most proud of her three sons, both as children and as the fine young men they have become. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bangor and served as Clerk of the Vestry before she became consumed with the care of her husband.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Homer Olsen; first born grandson Andrew Hutchins in Afghanistan. Joanne is survived by sons Gregory Hutchins and wife Deidre of Winthrop, Christopher Hutchins and wife Dorothy of Vassalboro, Jeffrey Hutchins and wife Betsy of Greene; grandchildren Celia Hutchins Wilson, Travis Hutchins, Benjamin Hutchins; four great-grandchildren; sisters Connie England, Margaret Comeau and husband Frank; brother Peter Baker; several nieces and nephews.
At Joanne’s request, there will be no services but she has asked for your prayers. Private committal will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory made by made to St. John’s Episcopal Church Outreach Ministry, 225 French St., Bangor, ME 04401.
