Obituary of Judith Ann Sawyer
Judith A. (Mugnai) Sawyer, 74, died peacefully May 31, 2023 in Bangor just two days prior to her 75th birthday. She was born June 2, 1948 in Machias, the daughter of George E. and Edith M. (Mallar) Mugnai.
Judith was a 1966 graduate of Brewer High School and worked for 38 years for the Dept of Motor Vehicles having worked in the management of the office retiring in 2004. She also worked for her longtime friend, Dale Henderson.
Surviving are her brother, John M. Mugnai and his wife, Pamela of Orrington and a sister, Helen Brettagna of Orange, CT; four stepchildren, Ricky Sawyer and his wife, Denise of Orrington, Timothy Sawyer of Bangor, Pamela Sawyer of Bangor and Lisa Sawyer of Lubec; also special nieces and a nephew, Michele (Mugnai) Freeman, Justin Mugnai, Kristina Mugnai-Price and Joan (Gerry) Gervasio of Connecticut. Judy was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Sawyer, her stepson, Donald L. Sawyer, her sister, Elsie Mugnai Preston Johnson and by a brother-in-law, Joseph Brettagna. Judy’s family gratefully thanks the staff and “family” at Winterberry Heights and True Potential OT.
A graveside service and burial will be held 1:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2023 at Marston Cemetery, Snows Corner Road, Orrington with a reception that will be held immediately afterward.
