Obituary of Lisa J. Szumilas
Lisa J Szumilas, 58, passed away on June 19, 2023 in Bangor after a brief illness with cancer. Lisa was born to William Allen and Judith Conley in Providence, RI on July 24, 1964.
Lisa was predeceased by her father William Allen and her stepfather Wilfred Conley. Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Gregory Szumilas of Bangor, ME; her son Seth Reed and his wife Megan of Orland, ME; daughter Savannah Szumilas of Bangor, ME; son Grayson Szumilas of Porter Ranch, CA; daughter Kendall Szumilas of Reston, VA; mother Judith Conley of Lady Lake, FL; sister Lori DiFranco of West Warwick, RI; brother John Allen of Kingston, RI; brother Gary Allen of Hope Valley, RI; brother Wilfred Resnick and his wife Joanne of Providence, RI; brothers-in-law Ron Szumilas and his wife Roxanne of Houston, TX; Charlie Szumilas and his wife Susan of Sequim, WA; Mike Szumilas and his wife Dolli of Aurora, CO; Jeff Szumilas and his wife Lisa of Hudson, WI; and her grandchildren that she adored; David and Reagan Reed as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lisa spent the last couple years traveling the world with the love of her life by her side. Lisa will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will be remembered for the way her smile could light up a room and her humor could bring you to your knees. As a nurse, Lisa worked for a stint in hospice care and she shared that she would always open a window after a patient passed to allow their soul to be set free, so open a window and think of Lisa.
We will be celebrating Lisa’s life at the Bucksport / Fort Knox KOA at 32 Leaches Point Road Orland, ME on Sunday, July 9th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor her giving spirit and consider donating to Heifer International. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer.
