Obituary of Joseph Norman Dubay
Joseph Norman Dubay, 95, husband of Jacquelyn J. (Chick) Dubay, died peacefully June 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 16, 1928 in Eagle Lake, the son of Adelard and Emelia (Vaillancourt) Dubay.
Norman grew up in Eagle Lake and joined the US Air Force at age 17 near the end of WWII serving for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and his 20 years of service took him to many duty stations beyond Korea and Japan including California, New York City, Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, Columbus, OH, Pease AFB and Newfoundland. Following his military career, Norman worked many jobs that included managing Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bangor, sales associate with Dunnett Appliance, work as a night manager with Howard Johnsons, Enterprise Car Rental and airport luggage delivery service. Norman was communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor and was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he enjoyed cooking and serving meals at various functions. He also cooked for the Salvation Army. A couple of Norman’s enjoyments were playing pool and playing miniature golf.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 68 years of Bangor, Norman is survived by two children, Paul Dubay and Joyce Dubay both of Bangor; four grandchildren, Savannah, Michelle and Danielle Georgia and Tyler Dubay; three great granddaughters Paislyn, Olivia and Aurelia; nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his son, Stephen Dubay in 1988 and by his 12 brothers and sisters. Norman’s family gratefully thanks the staff of Gentiva Hospice, Marlene Walker from Total Care Solutions and the staff of Loving Touch in Home Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, July 6, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Burial with military honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer.
