Obituary of Robert T. Rice
Robert "Bob" T. Rice, 82, passed away on October 12, 2023. He was born on January 1, 1941, in Bangor, ME, the son of the late James and Marion Rice Sr. Bob attended John Bapst High School where he found a great love for basketball. He went on to serve in the military as a Private First Class - E3 in the 195th Army Band from 1960 to 1962. Following his military service, Bob worked as a custodian for the University of Maine until he retired. In his free time, Bob enjoyed cheering on the University of Maine Hockey and Football teams, bowling at the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes, and spending time with his dog, Honey Bun. He was an avid story teller.
Bob is survived by his children, Teresa and Dennis Ryder of Corinth, Wendy and Arnold Dean of Winterport, Timothy Rice of Bangor, Robert and Christine Rice of Corinth, and Michael and Shawn Rice-Hartt of Glenburn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Rice, and his son, Scott Rice, as well as his daughter-in-law, Lisa Rice.
Bob is survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved very much. His grandchildren, Marie and Gordon Lovell and Frank Ryder of Corinth, Garret Dean of Winterport, Tony and Lloyd Tracy of Newburgh, Heidi and Rika Singh-Rice of Hampden, and Cassidy and Kevin Godin Jr of Bangor and great-grandchildren Bailee and Fynlee Lovell of Corinth. He was predeceased by his grandson Sean Rice.
Bob’s family would like to thank Jed Prouty Assisted Living staff and residents for the love and compassion they had for Bob while he lived there. He made an impression in their lives as they did in his.
At his request, there will be no formal funeral services. Friends and family are welcome to a graveside committal and burial 3:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Ohio St, Bangor.
