Obituary of Anne Marie Welch
Anne Marie (Young) Welch, 62 passed peacefully from our world into heaven on November 3, 2023 after a lifelong battle with Myotonic Dystrophy. She was born on April 18, 1961 in Bar Harbor to Catherine Jones and Robert Young. Anne spent her childhood by the ocean in Bar Harbor and graduated in 1981 from MDI. She then moved to Bangor to be with her family, attend college, and work as a CNA. She would then meet her love on Division Street.
Anne Marie loved taking trips to the ocean, shopping, and eating at local restaurants. She always made sure Christmas was special, it was her favorite time of the year. She loved country music, sewing, and word puzzles. She especially loved her family and get-togethers.
Anne Marie was predeceased by her (love) husband, Charles (Skip) Welch; mother, Catherine (Tootie) Young; uncle, Johnny Jones; grandparents, aunts, and uncles that she loved to tell stories about. Surviving are her beloved daughter, Katie Welch; bonus children, Amy Booker and David Welch; grandchildren, Mickey, Nate, Bethany, Aiden, Lily, Lyla, and Jocelyn; great grandchildren, Emma, Quinn, and Freya; father and his wife; Robert and Elissa Young; sister; Elizabeth Young; brothers, Robert and John Young; nephews; Nick, Christopher, JJ, and Noah; and cousin; Shamus Jones and his wife Mindy.
A visitation will be held 4 – 6 PM Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Kiley & Foley, 69 State Street, Brewer. A graveside service and committal will be held 12 PM Friday, November 17, 2023 at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt Vernon Rd, Augusta. Immediately following the burial a celebration of Anne Marie’s life will take place at 14 Mia Ridge, Sydney. In support of Myotonic Dystrophy awareness, we encourage you to wear green.
