LINCOLN. — Darlene Louise (Dill) Mulari, 66, found her place in the sun on Friday, February 23, 2024. Darlene was born October 1, 1957, to Richard and Ethel (Jipson) Dill in Lincoln.

She graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1975 and attended culinary school at Washington County Vocational Technical Institute in Calais. Darlene went on to cook for awhile before moving to Connecticut and working as a live-in governess. She eventually moved to Hawaii where she met the father of her son. Darlene moved back to the mainland to Lincoln before settling in at Franklin, N.H. for several years. In 1988, Darlene returned to Lincoln and had lived here ever since. Darlene volunteered at her son’s schools while he was growing up. She started working at the Lincoln News part-time and worked there for 30+ years before retiring on October 1, 2023. Darlene was also on the board of directors of the Lincoln Sanitary District for 20+ years, where she served many years as the treasurer before stepping down in 2021. Darlene also was a long-time employee of the Lincoln Memorial Library where she filled many roles. During her 20+ years there she served as the children’s clerk where she implemented many successful programs such as Chinese New Year, Dr. Seuss’ Day, 100 Dresses, Polar Express, as well as others and spearheaded the making of two felt quilts which can still be seen at the library. One quilt, comprised of squares representing children’s books, was made by Darlene and library patrons from ages 3-4 all the way up to 90-something. The second quilt, comprised of squares depicting loons, was also made by Darleen and several patrons. Darlene was well known for her attitude and her catch phrase of “E.S.A.D.”
