I wanted to thank everyone who took the time (and may yet) to share their memories of our Dad. When someone lives such a long life, you wonder if anyone outside the family will remember what a wonderful person they were. It has been very comforting to know that he touched peoples lives in ways that we did not know. He would have been very moved by your notes. We will carry him forward in our hearts and memories and thank you for doing the same. With much gratitude, Anne Bush.

Joe was not only an alumnus but a great mentor to me. As a young pharmacist it was always a pleasure to work beside him. We worked together over many years at Rite-aid and stayed friends for even more. God bless Betty and the kids. It was always my pleasure to listen to him brag about you all.

Joe and his family had a camp in Dexter on Lake Wassookeag. It was in the same group of camps that my parent's camp was in. I remember Joe taking me out on the lake in his boat several times a year, as my parents didn't have a boat at that time. I also remember hearing his Blazer take off any time of the day or night to a fire call. One of the camps in the group burned down. I can still remember seeing the backs of the fire trucks, as my parents wouldn't let me get any closer. A couple days after the fire, but before it was cleaned up, Joe took me over to give me a firsthand tour of the scene. He was a great guy to a little kid. I have been with the Dexter Fire Department since 1996. It will be hard to see his name come off the "Old Timer's" supper list at the FD.

I managed the Rite Aid in Brewer for several years. I loved working with Joe. I enjoyed his humor very much. Often, it was comic relief at the perfect time. I especially enjoyed his stories of his time in the military. He was a great story teller. He had the biggest gleam in his eye when he spoke of his family! My sincere condolences to all . God bless Joe .

Joe has been a neighbor for many years, he was a wonderful gentleman. Always a pleasure and joy to talk with him. The photo posted with the smile, is exactly how he will be remembered. Know he and Bettie have had their struggles the past couple of years. We send our best to the entire family.

Very nice man and a great asset to the town of Dexter. He was dedicated to serving the public and was well respected by everyone in the Dexter area. Any town would be a better place if Joe resided there.
