Obituary of Marshall R. Runnells

Marshall Robert Runnells, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024. He was born November 22, 1937, in Sedro-Wooley, WA.

Marshall was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1956. He worked for the Bangor Fire Department and retired in 1988. He was an avid gardener, had a love of reading and love of animals.  His greatest joy was his family and he devoted his life to providing and caring for them.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Lester Runnells; sister Lorraine; brother Duane.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Diane Runnells; children, Debbie Higgins and husband Thomas, Linda Norton and husband William, and James Runnells; grandchildren, Alex and wife Megan, Elizabeth, Christopher and wife Caitlyn, Jackie and husband Ethan, Brian and partner Andrea, Nick and wife Bree. His love will live on in his great-grandchildren, James, Addie, Leah, Keegan, Spencer, and Emmie.  He is also survived by brothers Gary Runnells, Michael Runnells and wife Carol; sister Linda Ramsey and husband Jimmie; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Bangor Firemens Relief Association, 289 Main St., Bangor, ME  04401, or to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt Hope Ave., Bangor, ME  04401.

Family and friends are invited to visit 10-11 A.M., Friday, September 13, 2024, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a memorial service will be held at 11 A.M.  A reception will be held 1 P.M. that day at Dysart’s, 1110 Broadway, Bangor.
