Obituary of Virginia Rose Campbell

Brewer—Virginia (Jacobs) Campbell, 93, wife of John W. Campbell, passed away August 6, 2016, at a Brewer healthcare facility. She was born in Bangor on Dec. 10, 1922, the daughter of James and Alice (Pinkham) Jacobs. Virginia attended Bangor schools, graduating in 1940. She went to work at Viner Bros. Shoe, where she retired after 36 years as a stitching foreman. She married her husband John of Brewer, ME in 1943 in North Carolina while he was in basic training for the Army and they ultimately made their home in Brewer. She had many talents from cooking and canning to enjoying knitting, quilting and cross-stitch needlework and participated in numerous community quilting groups and church craft groups in Maine as well as in California. Her greatest joy was sharing her beautiful hand work with others and through the years has left many family members and friends with these gifts as a reflection of her love and friendship. Virginia was predeceased by parents James and Alice Jacobs; brothers James and Arthur (Lefty) Jacobs; daughter Andrea Corr. She is survived by husband, John of Brewer; daughter Susan and husband Stephen of Yucaipa, CA and Beach Hill Pond, ME; son Michael and wife Marsha Campbell of Fontana, CA; six grandchildren, Krista, who was her grandmother's primary caregiver before entering a health care facility, Christopher, Tracy, Heidi, Nikki, and Ariel; three great-grandchildren; and brother Stanley and wife Gloria of Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer. Burial will take place immediately after the mass at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites those attending to a reception following the burial at the church hall.
